Project Showcase
What is a project showcase?
On our platform we aim to provide space for corporate organisations and NGOs to demonstrate their work in the field of sustainability.
Who will we showcase?
We strongly encourage all organisations to get involved, including first year startups to well-established organisations.
Why get involved?
For organisations, it is a statement of intent, in terms of acknowledging our collective responsibility to the environment. Also, it is a chance to showcase work that deserves to be celebrated. We cannot let successful green projects be forgotten, not only because they are great achievements, but also because other organisations can learn vital lessons. For our community, it is an opportunity to get a glimpse at the challenges and skills required to grow a green business or implement green initiatives such as forestation projects.
Ultimately, this project showcase is an exercise in revealing the realities of moving towards a sustainable world. Hopefully it can inspire more engagement and more solutions.
Articles / Essays
Kumēia commissions longform essays, mostly from academic writers and also accepts approaches from freelancers.
If you are an academic and would like to write for Kumēia, please email editorial (at) kumeia.org with a short bio and a link to your faculty page or website, some indication of your writing proposal in one short paragraph, and ideally please nominate an editor and appropriate section. A link to a sample of writing for a non-specialist audience would be helpful. Unfortunately we are unable to reply personally to all of these approaches, but every one is read and considered.
Video-, Photo-, Art Work
We understand that art can be the most effective tool to connect people to complex events happening around them. As much as we want to focus on scientific research and green entrepreneurial ventures, we will not neglect the artistic community in the climate fight.
Kumēia supports artistic work that is in line with our values and mission as a sustainable organisation (link to mission statement on website). This means we will promote art, across several mediums, which conveys a meaningful message about the environment or that explicitly incorporates eco-friendly practices, for example, making sculptures from recycled materials.
If you have completed a short documentary or a photographic or artistic piece, you may submit a pitch to us using this online form (shorturl.at/LX467).
Please email art (at) kumeia.org with any video, photo and/or art enquiries.
Author Terms
These Terms relate to Kumēia Blog, and other electronic and paper publications owned by Kumēia and its parent company (Haupts Green Care), affiliates, and subsidiaries (jointly and separately referred to in these Terms as ‘the Organization).
These Terms will not be varied, except in the event that the Organization has expressly agreed in writing to a variation.
If you are not happy with the Terms you should not offer us any material or accept a commission from the Organization. Any material supplied to us for publication is deemed to have been supplied in full knowledge and acceptance of these Terms.
1. The Author retains copyright subject to any agreement to the contrary between you and the Organization in writing.
2. The Author grants to the Organization the following rights:
2.1 a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free licence to publish, store, syndicate, distribute, republish or retransmit any material you submit to us in any format, with the right to translate, amend, cut or alter as we think appropriate with:
2.1.a the right to first publication in any medium;
2.1.b an exclusive right in all digital media for five years from the date of your contribution being published by the Organization; and in all print media for one year from the date of your contribution being published by the Organization;
2.1.c a non-exclusive right after the terms of Clause 2.1.b have expired, at which point the Author is free to republish, excluding photography and illustrations, which remain the property of the Organization.
3. The Author warrants that:
3.1 any material you submit is your own original work and that you own the copyright and any other relevant rights;
3.2 you will tell the Organization about any conflict of interest, whether actual or potential, as well as anything that could be perceived as such. You should raise this, preferably in writing by email, to the person with whom you have contact in the Organization.
4. The Organization reserves the right to refuse to publish the Commission. If the Author has, in good faith, submitted the agreed word count and participated in the Organization’s editing process and the Organization refuses to publish the Commission, the Author will be paid a ‘Kill Fee’ of half (50 per cent) of the agreed fee. The Organization subsequently relinquishes all rights to the Commission and the Author is free to publish the Commission elsewhere, excluding photography and illustrations, which remain the property of the Organization. If the Author does not make changes to the Commission as required by the Organization in writing, a Kill Fee will not be paid.
